Through access to solar lamps and clean cookstoves, rural households especially the female headed homes have improved their savings up to 50% from no longer buying kerosene and fuelwood daily. Local women groups are also generating income from the solar charging stations.
Improved Sanitation for Girls and Women
Girls in the rural schools are able to maintain regular classes attendance due to improved level of confidence during menstruation. The local women groups generate income from the production of reusable sanitary towels and soap making.
Approximate 1500 households using solar lamps and improved cook stoves. Increased disposable income among women in their local Groups savings and reduced cases of household fires and respiratory illnesses especially in the Island villages.
